About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

TWO-month extension? My friend is on his X visa in Shanghai. It expires at the end of July, 2015.

This was his first time to China, and he wanted to stay for another two months after the X type expires. Is it possible to extend or apply for a new type for two months (or one month then another month) without leaving the country? Not sure about how it works in HongKong nowadays.
Thanks in advance!
N

N, it's possible for him to acquire a one-month L type without leaving. And he can't extend it anymore. Anyway, it depends on how local entry and exit management bureau deals with this. I read that foreigners successfully change their X type to L type without leaving.

According to related requirement, those who don't have HK resident status are not allowed to apply in HK. However, people from certain countres like US and UK still applied successfully. For you, I think you may find an agent in HK for help if you are asked to apply after leaving mainland China.
