Am I eligible for the 72 hour visa? Also is it issued on arrival?

I am from South Africa and will be visiting Hong Kong. Would like to visit the Great Wall and theTerracotta Warriors.

Hey Gatcke! I'm afriad you are not eligible for the72 hour free transit because you want to go to two cities (Beijing and Xi'an). You have to apply for a tourist L type beforehand by submitting your passport, a copy of the data page of your passport, an application form, a 48mm×33mm size photo affixed on the form, and itinerary and accommodation proofs.

Am I correct in that if I just visit the Great Wall that I will then be eligible for the 72 free transit? Just to confirm I will be traveling from Hong Kong on a South African Passport - is this OK?
