Dilshan, if you can provide the embassy with all necessary documents, of course you can apply for it at the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka. The required documents are different for different visiting purposes, but your passport, application form, and recent photo muste be prepared. The single entry permit for mainland China costs Rs2300.

Thank you for your reply - I got an email from the Hong Kong Immigration as well, who informed that certain air lines are permitted to allow their passengers to transit via Hong Kong without a Transit type. I am travelling from Sri Lanka to United States via Cathay Pacific Airlines, when I called the Airlines in Colombo, they informed that all passengers who are travelling from Sri Lanka (Sri Lankan passport holders) are allowed to transit via Hong Kong without a Transit type, provided the transit time is less than 12 hours. I've got a written confirmation on this topic from the Airline as well. Are you able to verify this statement? Thanks and regards, Rehana
