What goods were traded along the silk road and how were they transported?

Jewels, spices, vegetables, wine and other exotic things were exported to China. In return, chinawares, silk products, mirrors, and gold, silver and iron vessels were exported abroad. According to what I know, horses and camels were the main vehicles along the road.
