About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need to apply for 24 hours transit?

Hi,
With a U.S. passport do I need to do anything including informing the flight attendant if I only need to transit in Beijing for 5-6 hours before catching the next flight to my next destination (IAD/PEK/REP)? Thank you.

Nara, you needn't apply for it in advance. After you get off the plane, you can directly inform the immigration officer that you want to use the direct transit policy.
