Current regulations to export small value commercial goods

What is the procedure to export commercial goods in my luggage? I was told if the value was under 5000 RMB I could fill out customs declaration forms and show an invoice and packing list and present these to Customs in the Red channel. Please advise if this is correct.

Jean, I personally think that you can't do that. If you really need to export things to China, I think you should consult with your customs first. There must be some procedures you need to go through. If you are not qualified for exporting, you might be required to find an agent to help you.

These are commercial samples I am taking out of China. I have a Customs broker I use here in Canada to import. What I need to know is I can legally export these small valued samples. I have done higher value and used a Customs broker in China for the formal export. Everything I read says when they are declared they are handled according to current regulations, what are those regulations? The factory I am working with tells me formal export is not required for exports valued under 5000RMB. I don't want my samples taken so I want to know how to properly debate it and what us required.

Jean, the 5000 RMB is for the things taken for personal use within a reasonable quantity. The "reasonable quantity" is just judged by the customs officers. If you plan to take them out of mainland China on your own, I think you may go through the red channel to declare your goods and then let the officers decide whether it is for personal use and whether it is under the reasonable quantity. If they agree that your samples are for personal use and under a reasonable quantity, then you needn't pay any tax. Otherwise, you need to pay extra tax for your samples. Just my opinion.
