About:China Visa Application in UK

What type of Visas do me and my daughter need for this trip?

Hi, I am English and Married to a Chinese wife with indefinite leave in the UK. We have a daughter together born in the UK and holds a UK passport.
My question: We are all wanting to visit my wife's family in china and are staying for 4 weeks. What forms do I need to fill in, and how do I apply? In person at the embassy? or by post?

If you just stay for around four weeks, I think you just need to apply for tourist types from the CVASC in UK. You need to fill 2013 application form. It can be downloaded from the top of the embassy pages on this website. Then you need to prepare all other required documents:
1. passport valid for 6 months and with 2 blank pages at least
2. filled application form
3. passport photo
4. round trip air tickets and hotel booking

You don't need to submit all your applications together. Just one of you can submit all your documents to the CVASC that has the jurisdiction in your area. Postal service is accepted. But it takes longer time (10 working days) and costs more money.

Thank you for the reply, I will not be staying in a hotel, I will be staying with family. Does this change things?

If you are staying with the family, you can ask them to write you an invitation letter, so that the hotel bookings and round-trip tickets are not needed.
