About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I am Transiting only thru the Country (Malaysia) I am returning to. Is this Ok ?

I am flying from Colombo to Guangzhou, but there is a 7 hour stopover in the transit lounge of Kuala Lumpur. I will not be going through Malaysian immigration and will be in transit hotel. After Guangzhou I want to fly back to Kuala Lumpur. Is this Ok for the 72 hour transit conditions. Urgent response appreciated.

Michael, I'm afraid your route is not eligible for the 72 hour free transit.

Michael, if you want to use the policy, you cannot fly from a place to mainland China and then back to the departure country. In other words, you have to fly to a third country. If you fly from Colombo via KL to Guangzhou and then to Bangkok, the route will be acceceptable. Alternatively, you can choose to fly from Guangzhou to Hong Kong or Macau to avail yourself of the policy becaus in regards to the 72 hour free transit, HK, Macau, and Taiwan are not considered as part of China.
