About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Leaving Shanghai to Hong Kong. Will I be eligible for the transit visa, or do I needa full one?

I will be at a conference in Shanghai. I will be there for less than 72 hours and depart for Hong Kong for 5 days.

So your flight route is UK-Shanghai-Hong Kong? If so, you can apply for 72 hours free transit when you are in Shanghai. However, you need to make sure that your flight won't stop at any other city in mainland execept for SHanghai. Otherwise, you can't avail 72 hours free transit.
