Can you take line 4 to Gucheng, then bus 318 to Peking Botanical Garden? Why Beigongmen recommended?

The instructions always say Beigongmen on Line 4, i see a route from Gucheng, the end station. Can either be used? If not, why is Beigongmen recommended?

Well, Gucheng Station is in subway line 1. You can take subway line 1 to Gucheng Station first, then transfer to public bus no.318 to the garden.

Or you can take subway line 4, and get off at Beigongmen Station, Exit A1. Then transfer to bus no. 563,331 or 696 to the destination. The distance from Beigongmen Station to the destination is much nearer than Gucheng Subway Station. It's about 3.6 miles.

Also, to Jacobs, I intended to ask about going past Biegongmen and travelling by bus from Anheqiao. It seemed to have more convenient buses. But everything i have read says to use Beigongmen station. I was curious why. I wondered if the highway was totally "in the way" of the bus stops from Anheqiao. Again, thank you for your help. BTW yesterday, I decided to not fight fate, and made my direction notes FROM Beigongmen! After all, everyone says to!
