may we use a 72 hour visa for 8 hours in Xiamin and 48 hours in Shanghai, before flying home to USA?Thank you for any help.Nancy W.

Nancy, you can't enjoy 72 hours free transit in Shanghai. 72 hours free transit hasn't been implemented in Xiamen. In your case, you'd better apply for a double entry L type in advance.
