What documents do i need to prepare to get a Chinese visa?

I'm gonna meet my boyfriend in Shanghai that's why i'm asking.

Sylvia, then a single L type is ok. You should ask your friend to send you an invitation letter together with a copy of his passport and valid visa page. You still need to prepare other documents including your passport and completed application form affixed with a recent six months passport photo. Besides, you should provide personal financal statement, employment certificate, professional ID or Bir-stamped tax form if you come for the first time.
