About:Kunming Travel

Hi , could you please suggest best way to go "Hong tu di" Dongchuan , from Kunming city / airport

would it possible to make a day trip to Dongchuan ? or need to spend a night there ? we are planning to go on Apr , I heard that it might not the best season to go ?

You can take bus KM – Fazhe from the North Bus Station, and get off at Huashitou Village. One day trip may be too hurried, you’re suggested to spend one night there.
Besides, I heard that the best time to go is May and June, or Sep. to Dec. So if you go there Apr. you may miss the best view.

The best way to Hongtudi is to hire a private car - inclusive day-trip for $ 100, excluding $20 for airport pickup. You can sure make a day-trip to Dongchuan, of course, depending on what you're gonna do there. It's just about a two-hour ride from Kunming anyway. I'm local and want to help out if needed.

HI, I plan to visit Red Land in Nov. From the many source, I know from KM to Fazhe there are 2 buses @7:50 and 8:30 a.m.How about return way? Because my flight is at 15:00 and how is the price of taxi from North bus station to airport?

Yes, you are correct. There are two buses to Fazhe from KM North Bus Station at 7:50 and 8:30. The trip takes about 3 hours. The fare is CNY 47 per person.

I heard that the return bus passes by Huashitou Village at around 8:30 to 9:50. The taxi fare from North Bus Station to the airport is CNY 70-80. You need to reach the airport at least two hours before depatures. Thus, you are advised to charter a car for the return trip. The fare may be CNY 700 -800.

Thanks. I visit Hongtudi in two days first, then I will be back KM and stay one night at Cloudland Youth Hostel before going to airport. To be ensure in time check in airport.
