About:China Visa on Arrival

Hi I hold an Australian passport. I have a question on visa on Arrival.

I am in Japan for vacation and have flight ticket to Shanghai (tomorrow) and then back to Australia 3 days later.
Currently I plan to stay for 72 hours in Shanghai. However I wish to stay about a week and change my fly date. Can I apply for VOA?
Or during my 3 day stay, am I able to apply for one within Shanghai?
I have family in China that wish me to stay for longer.
Thanks

David, I think you'd better apply for a L type directly in Japan if you have time. If not, you need to visit local entry and exit management bureau to apply for a L type when you arrive. The following is the address and contact information of Shanghai Entry and Exit Management Bureau. Perhaps, you can make a call for further detailed information.

Address: NO. 1500, Minsheng Road
Telephone: 021-28951900
Working Hours: Monday-Saturday:9:00—17:00
