Large/Jumbo/Maxi Taxis

I have a lot of luggage. is there such thing as a van taxi, in Dalian, China? If so, what are they called? How can I call/get one to pick me up at the airport?

Yes, there are large van for renting, they are usually called Mianbaoche (面包车) in Chinese Pin yin. You can find a car renting company in that city, and contact with them in advance. I remember there is a Chengcheng Vehicle Renting Company, you can have a try.

So is this a taxi service, or am I only renting the vehicle? I don't have an international licence.

It doestn't belong to the taxi service. And you are just allowed to rent the vehicle. There will be a driver on it. You cannot drive by yourself. :-)
