Hiking Routes on Mt. Huashan

I will be heading to the mountain in March with my mom. I would like to do the plank walk and some of the more adventurous ones. Is there a way that she could do some of the hiking up to a certain point, or do you mainly have to choose to hike or take a cable car? Ideally, we would like to hit some of the best spots together but take different routes (one adventurous, one safer). Any suggestions?

Ok, I understand. You want a more adventurous route, while your mother take a safer route, and you two want to visit some best spots together.

The best spots of the mountain are in the peaks. For you, you can do a hike without taking cable cars so you will pass by many dangerous spots. And your mother takes the cable car to the North Peak, doing an easier hiking around. (Of course you are supposed to set off earlier than your mom, for hiking is much slower than cable car). When you reach the north peak, you can meet your mom there, then visit the east peak, south peak and west peak. In west peak, you can take the cable cars down to the mountain together. If you want a more dangerous route, there is a shortcut path (Zhiqu Huashan) leading to the mountain foot, and it takes only 40 mins around.
