About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

Same-Day Processing and MLK Holiday Opening

1. Can you kindly confirm whether same-day visa processing is available at the Chicago consulate and, if so, what time the application would need to be submitted in the morning for afternoon pickup and cost. Alternatively, kindly confirm any other specific rush processing available.

2. I understand from this site that the consulate is open for visa processing on MLK day, Monday, January 19. I have read conflicting information on this point (e.g., the embassy in DC was closed last year on MLK day).

Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

1. I don't think te consulate offers same-day processing service. The fastes service takes two working days (including the day you submit the application). If you submit the application in the morning, you are supposed to collect it in the morning of the following day. If you submit it in the afternoon, then pick up it in the following afternoon.

2. The holiday schedules of different consulates in the USA may be different. However, even though the consulate says it will open on the MLK day, I sugget you to confirm it with the embassy before going there.
