About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Do I need to leave China and go abroad to get a Family Visit Visa?

I have been working in China on an annual residence permit for almost 10 years, and I recently married a Chinese woman. Can I stay in China to change my residence permit into a Family Visit entry permit, or do I have to leave China and apply for it abroad? I am a citizen of the Netherlands.

You can try to change it at the local exit ad entry administration department of the public security authority. If it can't be done, you have to leave China and apply for the Q type.
