About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling to China to renew Mongolian visa

Hi, I have an Australian passport and am living in Mongolia. I will be travelling to China to renew my Mongolian entry permit, so when I arrive in China I will not have a valid Mongolian entry permit yet. But I will have a return flight to Mongolia.

Am I eligible for the 72 hour transit visa? I am advised that it will only take a day to issue my Mongolian visa.

Annabel, you are not eligible for 72 hours free transit because you fly from Mongolia and then get back to Mongolia again. If you fly from Mogolia and then fly to HK or Macau before you get back to Mongolia, then you are ok for 72 hours free transit.
