About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Visa or 72 transit exemption or 24 hour direct transfer???

I fly into Beijing on a Sunday at 2:20 p.m. and leave the following morning on a train around 11:00 AM to Mongolia. I am a citizen of the USA. Do I need a transit type or do we get one of the exemptions?
