How far and how long it takes to travel from Wuxi to Shanghai by car ? Any public transportation ?

Well, the distance between these two places is about 85 miles.
If by car, it will take about 2.5 hours on the way.
You can take long-distance bus. There are many buses in City Bus Station that can take you to Shanghai South Bus Station. I will take around 3 hours on the way. This way is safter and more convenient. :-)
