About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is this possible going to Tibet?

It is cheaper to fly to Chengdu from Kathmandu and back. I would need a permit for Tibet which is separate from a Chinese visa. If I stay less than 72 hours on the way over and back from Tibet, do I qualify? I am also considering a flight (if inexpensive) from Chengdu to India. Thank you.

No, as it says above, you need to leave from the same airport that you arrive at and you cannot leave that city (with two notable exceptions). So if you fly to Chengdu you need to stay in Chengdu then leave China from Chengdu.

Hi, if you want to visit Chengdu by enjoying the 72-hour free transit, you need to reach Chengdu airport and leave from Chengdu airport and fly to a different country from Nepal. You can fly from Chengdu to India.

If you want to fly from Chengdu to Tibet and then fly to India, you cannot enjoy the 72-hour free transit. You can only apply to enjoy the 24-hour free transit if your total transfering time is less than 24 hours.
