Can I apply for a Chinese Z work visa in Thailand to work in Jiangmen university?

I am a UK citizen living in Thailand. I have been offered a teaching position at a university in Jiangmen. They have told me I need to apply in the UK. Is it possible to obtain from Chinese embassy in Bangkok?

I think you can try to apply it at the Chinese embassy in Bangkok. Prepare the following materials in advance: a valid passport and a photocopy of its data page, a completed application form affixed with your recently taken bareheaded color photo, the original and photocopy of your residence permit in Thailand, the Alien Employment Permit issued by the Chinese Human Resources and Social Security Department, and an invitation letter or invitation confirmation letter from a duly authorized unit.

Hi Flora,
Thanks for that. I don't actually have a residence permit for Thailand. As I am between jobs, at the moment I just have a tourist visa. I have a wife and children in Thailand and previously I was staying in Thailand on a marriage visa.

Due to your special situation, you can have a try in Bangkok. Before you do, you can call the embassy for confirming it.
