About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

canadian permanent residents. is 72 hours free transit valid only for Canadian citizens?

I am a canadian permanent resident with a passport from the country that is not in the list. I am planning to buy a tichet from Sydney to Toronto with a 16 hour stop in Shanghai. Is there a chance for me to use this non-visa option?

Hi, Maria, I'm afraid that you cannot use the 72 hour free transit, but you can apply for the 24 hour free transit. They have a same effect for your case.

Hi Paul, you can get the 24 hour free transit, but upon your arrival at th airport, u need to apply for a stay permit, which allows you to go out the airport and have some sightseeing activities.
