Q visa (Q1 and Q2)

Hi,
Thank you for your information. How is it? As I know it is a family type. so it is good for foregone men who have Chinese wife and want to stay and live in china for long time. Please explain. Is it easier than permanent residency?

Yes, certainly it's easier than getting the permament residency. Rules on permament residency are rather strict, so I think you may not qualify for it. To apply for a Q type, you need to prepare the passport, application form and photo, invitation letter issued by your wife, photography of her Chinese ID, original and photocopy of your marriage certificate as well as other materials required by the Chinese Embassy in your country.

It's easier to apply for a Q type compared with permanent resident permit. If you get married with a Chinese, then you can apply for Q1 type. It's just a 30 days visa and you need to change it into a temporary resident permit with 30 days after you arrive. The duration of stay is decided by the local entry and exit management bureau. Normally, it has something to do with your wife's financial status. Because you can't work with Q1 type, so your wife should sponsor your life in China. The more money or properties she has, the longer duration of stay you will be granted.

Hi, Thank you so much. I have 2 more questions:

1-Should i be in my country and be invited by my Chinese wife and then travel to china ?or i can be in china and do all these things?

2- what is the processing time and duration of Q type? I will be in china for 5 years . I m a scholarship PhD student here.

3- I should work when I marry in order to survive!. it is very logical and natural thing. you said i cant work by Q1 type visa. why ? i should sit at home ??!!
4- please tell me what is the normal duration of residency of Q1 ?
5- what is the difference among Q1 and Q2 ? which one is better? and which has medial check up ?

1. If you are in CN now, you can prepare all your requirements and then apply a Q type out of China.
2. The processing time is normally 4 working days, and the duration for Q1 is 30 days, for Q2 less than 180 days.
3. The rules for Q type say that holders can not work with Q type. Since you will study in China for a long time, do you have an X1 type? If you have, you are not suggested to apply for a Q type. if you get the Q type, your X1 type will expire. With X1 type, you can only hunt for parttime jobs with the consent of your university.
4. Q1 is a 30-day visa, you need to change it to a temporary residence permit within 30 days after your arrival. The permit may grant u a stay of one year in general. Then you need to renew it within China.
5. With Q2, you can stay no longer than 180 days, while with Q1, you can stay longer. Q1 is better, so the approval for Q1 is stricter. If you have applied for Q1, to change it to a residence permit, physical examination is needed.
