What is the typical bride price in China? My future parent in laws are asking about RMB 200,000

DP, the bride price differs from place to place. There is no standard for this. In some areas, CNY 10000 is enough. In some other places, the weathy groom's family even sends a million Yuan as the bride price. In return, the girl's family buys a luxury car and other precious gifts as her dowry.

I think you may negotiate with your parents-in-law on how much bride price you should pay if you can't afford CNY 200000. Or you may ask your girlfriend to help you find out how much other families in her area ask as bride price. Besides, the girl's family will buy something as dowry for their daugther. If you paid CNY 200000, you may ask them what they will provide as dowry.
