About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Guangzhou for 12 hours - do I need to get the 72 hour visa exemption?

I am travelling from Paris to Brisbane via Guangzhou, with a 12 hour stopover and would like to go into the city. Do I need to line up to get a 24hour exemption policy?? or do I just leave through a normal customs checkout counter? Thanks!

You need to line up to apply a stay permit under the 24-hour exemption policy at the immigration. After you get the work permit, you can leave the airport for the city downtown area, otherwise, you cannot leave.
