About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying with different airlines on different tickets

I have a Sydney to Shanghai return Qantas ticket. Within that trip, I am flying from Shanghai to Hong Kong to Taiwan then back to Shanghai on Hong Kong Airlines. I am then going to stay in Shanghai for less than 72 hours before I fly back to Sydney on Qantas. Do I qualify for the 72 hour free transit? Thanks!

You mean you want to enjoy the 72-hour free transit on your trip Taiwan - Shanghai - Sydney?
If so, it is possible to enjoy this policy. Remember to inform the airline that you want to enjoy this policy in advance.

It is OK. If you can provide an onward ticket, it is OK. You just need to tell the airline staff when boarding the flight in Taipei.
