About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We have 5 hour layover at Beijing airport from Thailand going to JFK, NY. Any tour suggestions.

Do we have to go through customs/immigration at any time entering/exiting Beijing, China from Bangkok, Thailand?
Are there tour buses at airport? How do we make arrangements for this. There will be 4 senior ladies on this trip.
Are there places to store luggage while we are on tours? Do we have to go through customs/immigration on return from tours? What do we take with us on the tours-- tickets, passports, etc? Suggestions, please.

You need to go through the customs and immigration any time entering/existing Beijing. Tour buses are not available at airport, but there are airport shuttle buses to take you to the city downtown.

You are suggested to store your luggages at the airport and then go out for traveling. You are suggested to hire a van to visit around. Personally speaking, you are not suggested to go out, because 5 hours are so short to travel around. You can hardly see any place. So you can just stay in the airport for a rest.
