"Urban" vs. "rural" Spring Festival

Hello! We are flying to Hongkong a couple of days before the Chinese New Year in 2015; we would like to stay in the city and explore but we also would like to experience the 'best' possible celebrations. Now, I know that traveling during this week will be a hassle due to migrant workers going home to their families to celebrate etc., but at the same time many things will close in Hongkong and it might not be as fun to be there. What would you recommend? To try to leave the city before February 19th and stay in a place like Guangzhou (or same thing happening there?) or some other less busy place: we're going to Zhaoqing and Shaoguan too, probably. Thankful for your answer! =)

Hey, don’t worry. It won’t be like “many things will close” in HK. It is the hot season for traveling; just some small stores will be closed. Those attractions and shopping malls will be open as usual, such as HK Ocean Park, Disneyland, Citygate Outlets, Victoria Peak and others. Besides, you will see the fireworks show in there.

Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, and Shaoguan would be less busy at that time. If you go to Zhaoqing or Shaoguan, you may have the chance to feel a special rural-style Chinese New Year.
