About:China Embassy in Thailand

are chinese visas issued in thailand for canadians?

I am currently in the Philippines and contacted the Chinese embassy here but they told me I have to fly back to Canada to apply!! That is obviously very costly and time consuming. They said they are unaware of other countries policies which seems very strange. I can't be the first backpacker wanting to visit China that has not applied for a permit before I left my own country! Does the Chinese embassy issue the permits in bangkok for Canadians?

Hi, you are not the first Canadian that cannot apply in Philippine as I heard, but I did not hear that Canadian is unable to apply in Thailand, so you can have a try. But before going there, you are still suggested to contact the embassy for confirming.

BTW, HK is another good choice for making application.

Thank you Dylan...I also heard I can pay agency which I just contacted and they want @@$@@500+USD so its cheaper to fly elsewhere...hope this helps others aswell
