About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

When to apply for a visa

The China Consulate is suggesting that I apply not before three months prior to my proposed date of departure for China. But I want to get my mine asap so I can buy my air asap at the price I want and on the route and airline I want.

Also, I am told that they would decide which category and when the permit will expire, etc. I am supplying an invitation letter (it's on a form right now but the consulate wants the letter as a PDF document) plus the other required documents. I thought this would automatically mean I am applying for S2. Is there any way I can apply for it sooner but also make sure it doesn't expire for six months. Ideally, I want to get mine by mid-December to travel in early May.

Are their expiry dates based on when an applicant's passport expires?

Thank you.

I have no idea about the information on your invitation letter. If they just invite you to visit China for a single trip, you cannot apply now. Usually, a single entry one usually has a validity of three months. If you apply now, it will expires before you go to China.

If they invite you for a double entry or a multiple entry one, you can apply now.

The expiring dates are based on the issuing dates.

Make it simple. Go apply a L-Category (Tourist) for 10 years with multiple entries for the SAME price.

For the L-Category don't I need to produce my airline tickets, itinerary, etc.? If it's L I apply for then is it okay to submit my application sooner than wait for the 3-month mark? I was told that it's the consulate that would decide what visa to issue.

What I hear from you is, don't bother with an invitation letter, etc. but just apply for the L. But then above listed problem seems to arise.

Thank you.
