I have taken China trains for several times. The trips were so wonderful. One passenger is allowed to take a luggage which should be less than 20KG. For one piece of luggage, the sum of length, width and height cannot be over 160CM on regular trains and cannot be more than 130CM on high speed trains. Nontheless, many travellers by China rail have luggage that weigh about 30KG and even 50KG. I do not think the policy for luggage limitation is very strict. So you can take all the things you need for your journey when boarding the train.
