Seating for Soft Sleeper

I know that you cannot purchase specific seats and it prints tickets in order. However, if we purchase (4 people) early enough would it be possible for the same 4 people to be in the same soft sleeper cabin? Or could we ask the attendant at the ticket counter? Especially when we are traveling with significant other?
