i plan to travel with husband, just 2 of us,stopover in beijing 3 days for visit in june

Round trip ticket to UK is purchased. I have Hotel booked in Beijing as well. Do I need a L or G type please ?Is it too early to apply for visa ? please advice

You mean you will fly to Beijing from UK for 3 days and then back to UK?If so, you need to apply fo a single entry Tourist L in advance for your trip. It is too early to apply that and usually, you can apply it in around one month in advance.
