When does my visa run out

Our China permit runs out in May, but my daughter is having a baby in June. I was told I can go out of China just before the May expiry, return and stay until the 90days I am allowed . I have a multiple entry with 90 days and it is a 12 month one. We want to return to Australia in June instead of May if we can.
