About:China Flight

do the china officials check how much money passenger have?

Hi if someone can please answer me asap.if anyone has heard or been through this will you please tell me if this is can be a legitament policy before you board flights for chinese immigrants coming from china to america on tourist visa
I have a china girlfriend who is at Shanghai airport for last 3 days..she says that before boarding china eastern airline flight mu 583 to los angeles that the china travel officials stop her and 2 other single females and checked to make sure they were flying with enough money to support there tourist visa trips..my girlfriend was told she needs $6,000 traveler cheques to travel with to support her self while on 90 tourist visa and then she must have around 60,000 yuan in her china bank account before they allow her to have clearance to travel to los angeles..she has open ticket to change flights and has been sitting at Shanghai airport for 3 days waiting for me and family to send her the 60,000 yuan to put in her bank so she can get clearance to board flight.can this really be a legitamate procedure or is this a scam?i want to know if anyone has heard of this happening to them or someone they know..thank you very much for any answers

I heard that someone who hold the one way ticket might be stopped and need to prove that they had the capability to buy a return ticket. The money support might be required during the application of the visa, but not for flight boarding. Let her buying a return ticket might work. Also, you'd better call for the local embassy to check it. It is not advisable to transfer the money before everything is clear, just to be safe.
