About:China Visa Application in UK

Flight ticket and hotel reservation

I am planning to visit China by the end of this month (November 2014). Do I have to buy a flight ticket and reserve a hotel room in advance before applying for a visa? I would like to travel around by train and maybe buses for 3 weeks. Do I have to provide hotel reservations for 3 weeks or just the first night? Is a hostel reservation vaild?

Much appreciated

If you do not have an invitation letter from China, you need to book the the tickets and hotels before applying. Those bookings are needed for application. If you plan to travel by train, you need to provide train tickets.

One night hotel bookings is not enough. You may need to prepare the bookings for at least around one week for application. The hostel reservation is valid.

Thanks Mindy for your answer. Are you sure that I have to provide 3 weeks of hotel and train reservations to apply for a tourist L? I find it very hard to beleive. My route and plan can change during the visit. Anyway, thank you very much for your advice.

There is no specific requirements about the hotel bookings, but based on my experience, you are suggested to provide at least around 3 weeks' hotel bookings to get the permit easily.

For the tickets issue, you will fly to China and then travel in China by trains? If so, the train tickets are not necessary. You just need to provide your flight ticket to China and departure from China for the application. The arrival and depature tickets are necessry. The train tickets within China is not necessary.

Hi Mindy

I do not think I will be able to plan where I will be staying exactly during my 30-day visit. What about a friend's invitation? Do you have any information? Will an invitation resolve the 30-day hotel reservations?

Hey, it will be must better if you can have a friend who can send you an invitation letter. If your friend is a Chinese, his/her ID card copy must be required. If he/she is a foreigner, copies of his/her passport information page and visa page are required.

Hi Mindy

If I get an invitation from my Chinese friend, do I need to provide details about my itinerary and places to visit in China?

Thanks a lot
