About:China Family Reunion Visa
Spending time with family and doing some touring on our own also. Should we use L or Q2 visa?

Save yourself the trouble and just get a L, unless you plan to stay in China for 6 months on a Q2?0

What Jackson tells is right.
If you just want to stay for several weeks or a bit longer, the L is highly recommended. It is much easier to get than the Q2.0

Will we get accepted if we say that we will be with family 3 weeks and then traveling the last week. As long as they know where we are, or is it mandatory to have the Q2 if visiting family?0

Seriously, you should apply for Q2 type. However, L type is ok and it is easier to apply for a L type.0
