Ferry is a better choice. After landing HKIA, no need to go through the immigration. Just walk to Arrival Level, T1 and buy the ferry ticket on the spot at the Ferry Ticket Counter at Transit Area E2. There you also need to show your luggage tag receipt and they will help you handle the luggage. Afterwards, go to the ferry boarding entrance to scan your ticket and check the status of your luggage. Then hop on the ferry to ur destination. The ferry duration is only half an hour.
If to travel by MTR, you have to go to Hung Hom Railway Station in HK city first. To take bus no. A21 from HKIA to Hung Hom in around an hour. Then you need around 40min to Lo Wu by East Rail line. After that, you need to spend 30-60min to cross the border to Luo Hu, SZ.
The ferry from HKIA to Shekou port costs 220HKD per person for an economy class cabin. By MTR, the total cost is around 70HKD.
