Can you clarify if an itinerary as follows NRT-PVG-TPE(a few days in TPE)- NRT qualifies?

I want to make sure I understand the definition of region. I understand a round-trip Japan/China does not qualify, but would a transit Japan-Shanghai-Taipei qualify, or Japan-Shanghai- Singapore?

Both trips Japan - Shanghai - Taipei/Singapore are eligible for the 72-hour free transit, so you can pick choose either of a place you want to go.
