About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Need to clarify Visa free transit in Shanghai

Arriving in Shanghai (Pudong) Airport @ 06:35 from Brisbane Australia (via Singapore), we wish to depart for a day tour (preferably group NOT private), before embarking cruise-ship in Shanghai, bound for 1st port of call in Busan South Korea, then 8 days later, a port call in Hong Kong, then next is Nha Trang Vietnam.
Q1. As Australian Citizens/Passport Holders, do we absolutely qualify for the 24 hour visa free transit in BOTH Shanghai and Hong Kong ?
Q2. Where can we store 3 bags, whilst on day tour in Shanghai, before proceeding @ approx 16:30 to shipping terminal for embarkation before ship sails @ 20:00 ? (Cruise-line only starts embarkation after 12:30 and before 18:30).

Very simple:

1) Yes, you definitely and undoubtedly qualify for 24 hour visa free transit in Shanghai and you are definitely allowed to enjoy a trip within and around the city. You are advised to print out your flight and cruise tickets and to have those printouts with you. You don't need any kind of visa free transit scheme in Hong Kong because Australian citizens enjoy absolutely visa free access to the city.

2) There are several places where you can store your bags in Shanghai, but I would suggest one of railway stations. The most centrally located is Shanghai Railway Station where you can leave your luggage at the price for 10 CNY per piece per day.
