About:China Transit Visa

will I need a visa to travel around the different airports and get a hotel for the layover?

Hi, I'm an Australian citizen leaving from Sydney to Nanjing with a 12 hour stop over, after that it's nanjing to shanghai hongqiao by train then a shuttle/cab from there to shanghai pudong.

Helen, I think you'd better apply for a G type in advance. It enables you to transfer from Nanjing to Shanghai and then fly off from Pudong Airport.
