transfer from international ( australia ) to domestic ( hainan island ) via guangzhou

what is the procedure in Baiyun airport to get from its international section  to the domestic section and would one hour and 40 minutes be sufficient to transfer. i was told that our luggage would go directly to hainan island ( Haikou )
