Travel from hotel to Badaling Great Wall

There are suggestions for you.
The first one is to take the public bus. From your hotel, you can easily walk to to the Dengshikou Subway Station of Line 5. Then take the line 5 to Yonghegong Station and then change to Line 2 to Jishuitan Station. Then walk to the Deshengmen Bus Station where you can find the buses 877 or 919 to Badaling.

Or you can use the same method to change to line 2 and take it to Xizhimen Station. Then you can walk to the BJ North Railway Staion by following the signs. At the north railway station, you can find the trains for the wall.

Personally speaking, the second method is much preferred, because the trains are bullet trains and the journey will be comfortable.

I was there on last Sunday 9th of November. There was temporary ticket office,just small cabin. Unfortunatelly it was closed,and nobody could tell when it will be open. Main ticket office do not sell tickets to Badaling. On temporary office there was information from previous day: 12:53 tickets for 13:14 sold out. Alternative way to Great Wall...and here instruction how to get by bus. For me train would be best solution,but in this case it didn't work and I have lost time. On the bus station on the other hand queue was terrible but finally I was able to get bus 877. On the way back from Badaling I haven't even try a train. Queue in front of station was endless. Bus did its job again.
