About:China Business Visa

Working out of China, but go to China every month for around 20 days for work

I'm currently stuck in the invitation letter for working permit application in order to apply for residence permit.

I am an expat working in Taiwan company which also has factories in China. I will be flying frequently every month from Taiwan to China for 20 days and going back to Taiwan for 10 days.
Currently I'm using M visa and I am planning to apply for Residence Permit. How can I apply for residence permit in China? My company is Taiwan company, but they have factories in China, from whom should the invitation letter comes from? Thanks!

If you want to apply for a resident permit, you need to have a Work Z first.
You can ask the factories to send you an invitation letter. Besides, they still need to send you a work permit. With the letter and the work permit as well as your valid passport, an application form, a recent taken photo, you can try to apply for a Work Z.

After you get a Work Z, you can change it to a resident permit within 30 days of arrival when you reach in China.

Hi Jesse, thanks for replying. I am currently holding working permit in Taiwan and pay for income tax in Taiwan. My secretary is concerned that I will pay for income tax in China if I apply for working permit in China. Is this the only way to get residence permit in China? My main purpose for applying residence permit is to reduce the multiple entry working Z renewal costs which is quite high compared to having ARC. Thanks!!

According to your situation, applying a Work Z is the only way to get the resident permit.
Or personally speaking, you can try to apply for a multiple entry M type valid for one year. You just need to pay it once when applying and then use it for one year entering and re-entering multiple times.
