Children going to consulate

If I am going to get our visas in person at the consulate in LA, does my 8 year old son need to come with me to the consulate or can I just bring all of his paper work, passport, pics etc?

Your son is not necessary to go. You can apply for him as his representative by taking all his documents to the consulate.
