Multi-city: LAX - MNL; MNL - CAN - LAX. Will I be allowed to get the 72 hour visa transit?

Hello. I have a multi-city trip. First leg will be Los Angeles to Manila and return will be Manila to Guangzhou (staying for 2 days for tourism), and flying Guangzhou to Los Angeles. I am getting different answers from what I have read so far. Many thanks.
