About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

L visa to temp res I am on X1

My hisband was approved for an S1 but we had such a horrible time getting things sorted it expired before i got my X1. My husband went to HK and just got an L type. Can he still change it to a temp res or are we screwed?

You mean change your husband's L type to a resident permit?
If so, it is impossible to change it to a resident permit. If he already got a L, he can use it till it expires. Then he can try to apply for a S1 and then change it to a resident permit after he enters China.
