About:Marriage Registration in China

Australian citizen who lives in USA marrying Chinese citizen in China

Hi,
I've been researching for the past two days about getting married in China with my case.

1. Is the Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (CNI) enough? Or do I need Certificate of single status as well? If I were to get the single certificate, I can only date back 1 year since I have only lived in USA for one year.

2. Do I need to stamp these documents at the Chinese consular in USA?

3. Should I apply the CNI here at the Australian consular in USA? Or should I do it at Australian consular in China?

4. Does the document need to be translated into Chinese? If so, where should I do this?

5. Is there is a step by step guide for my case?

Kind regards,
Chin

That certificate is enough. You need this certificate authenticated, namely get a stramp, in your local Chinese embassy.

It needs to be translated and you need to consult the local Chinese embassy to ask whether they have designated translation company.

Notarized by any notary public - authenticated by the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade or its Office in States or Territories - authenticated by local Chinese embassy
